Plugging In

Well, once again, I've been putzing the internet and other such things and feel the need to share. So sit back and relax before you rush to find the stuff!

**Blogs-
Sarah Balter, a friend and student at Georgia State University, had the opportunity to see Ben Stein give a lecture at the college. Many of you may know Stein from Clear Eyes commercials or perhaps as a political analyst or just a brilliant mind of the time. Anyway, I encourage you to check out Sarah's summary of the lecture.

Long time friend, Joseph Thompson, has written a blog on how a divided kingdom cannot stand. He, of course, is referring to the church and the upcoming elections. His thoughts on this idea are intriguing and lately he has been bringing up the touchier subjects on his blog, Seasons of Change.

My fellow blog buddy, Leah Tan, has set up a new blog that is coordinated with a young photographer in Africa, the Republic of Burundi, to be exact. She..is in Canada. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the two, who have never met in person, post a picture that they've recently taken. The result? A beautiful split portrait. It's amazing what Leah and Brandon have come up with. Their project is simply called Leah Meets Brandon and they hope to touch everyone who stops by with their gorgeous photographs taken from opposite ends of the world.

"Harry Rud," an anonymous aid worker in Afghanistan reported this week on how difficult it can be to identify specific locations in the country. It's often just complicated identifying the specific territory or city, let alone keeping tabs on the people for a census or taxation. It's worth educating yourself about.

**Photography-
Kate is a fellow photographer on my flickr. She has beautiful photography and most recently she has posted a beautiful piece accompianied by a verse from Isaiah. As the comments suggest, it draws each person differently. It is called "He has lifted them up and Carried Them."

Amos has captured the beauty of fall in Oregon. His most recent pictures are breathtaking.

**Project Homeless-
About a week ago, Sarah and I had a chance to visit Crossroads Ministries in Atlanta. They are beneficial in assisting the homeless get id cards from the state, basic job training, transporting them to interviews. They offer a meal, counceling and spiritual guidance as necessary. They refer them to case workers and civil lawyers for any case the state might have against them. They also help refer them to housing and give them basic medical care. Crossroads works hard to facilitate 3000 homeless at any given time and take everyone who shows up at 830am every weekday. For more information, check out their website. And please hope and pray that my friend Bones will be found soon, so that we can offer him this opportunity as well. He was unable to make it the morning we went to meet with him.
